I am now a full time artist and exhibit regularly both here and in England and have work in private collections in Italy, England, France, Australia, Switzerland and Spain.
The language of the images and symbols in my work have been developed from many sources and is constantly revitalised by the renewal of context and meaning. I fuse fragmented images to create new, timeless landscapes or interiors with real or fictional people. I use fragments of paintings I particularly like, especially from the Sienese school, a fish from Orvieto Cathedral, a Statue glimpsed in Bergamo, a bird in a Pompeian fresco. Water, fish, flowers, statues... these are full of narrative associations, memories, a feeling for a place or time. Images from a country visited twenty years ago become juxtaposed with a visit a month ago.
The paintings grow organically, not really planned or preconceived, they can't be rushed and the final result is often unexpected, the subject matter a surprise, the references hidden.
